I came across this quote today for #motivationmonday that says “If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you”. I know it could be said of many things but what I can relate it to most is motherhood. Tonight, on the eve of my first son’s 5th birthday, I can’t help but reflect back on the last 5 years of my life. How my life has changed and how I’ve grown as a result of the biggest challenge of my life; becoming a mother.
My life began 5 years ago when I looked down upon the most gorgeous blue eyed blond haired baby I’d ever seen. I knew that moment was going to change my life. And what was most fitting was the work and effort it to took to get there. Months of sickness, many pounds gained, endless hours of pain and contractions that it took for my little one to fight his way into the world.
I know that Ayden is destined for great things in this world. And I know this because he’s not only touched my life, but of so many others that have been blessed to be in his life. My son is incredibly smart, funny, and kind. I’ve never met a child so aware of the needs of others and that has the ability to put those needs ahead of his own.
It is my greatest honor being his mother and wish nothing but the greatest things in this world for him. “What you do you want? Is it the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and bring it down.”
There isn’t anything is this world I wouldn’t do for him.
Happy birthday my love bug! Mommy loves you more than you’ll ever know.
